Association SUNCE was founded in 1998 in Split, Croatia. Today it is the biggest environmental association in the Dalmatia region. Main beneficiaries of Sunce activities are citizens of Split and of the Dalmatian coast and islands. Through partnerships with other organizations and institutions, Sunce is also active on national and international level.

Main goals of the Association are:
- Conservation of nature and protection of environment as basic society values
- Management of natural resources through implementation of sustainable development

    EcoPartner Programme public Presentation

    On 23 November 2009, at the Faculty of Economics in Split, we presented the project for the “Development of Eco-sustainable programme tourism facilities in Croatia (GoGreenCro)”.

    The programme supported by EU funds (PHARE 2006) and the Croatian Ministry of Tourism has been implemented in Dalmatia and Istria since November 2008. The partners on the project are Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development Sunce from Split and Zelena Istra from Pula.

    Training seminar on the topic „Croatia MPA Management Planning“ was held from the 07th till the 14th of December 2009 in Pension „Villa Segetski dvori“, Seget Donji, Croatia.     Two more Cleaner Production Workshops in Split

    Within the project “CP3-PHARE 2006 – Cleaner Production Promotion Program for the Hospitality Industry” Association Sunce and Cleaner Production Centre of the University of Rijeka organized two more workshops. The workshops were held in the UNEP's PAP/RAC in Split, on 29 and 30 of October 2009. The aim of the workshops was to introduce the concept of cleaner production, e.g. the reduction of costs in the tourist facilities through savings of resources (water, energy etc.), to the participants.     Educational activities September – November 2009

    As part of educational activities within the program Center of Knowledge a series of workshops and lectures were organized during October about the biodiversity of the Adriatic Sea, its threats and the ways of conservation. The workshops and lectures were organized for pupils in elementary school “Petar Berislavić” in Trogir and in secondary school Natural Sciences and Engineering School in Split.

    Mapping of marine species and habitats of the northwestern part of Dugi otok, Croatia

    Association Sunce conducted mapping of marine species and habitats of waters in the area of important landscape of the northwestern part of Dugi otok. Study objective was to make inventory and map of marine biodiversity of this area and to explore current state of posidonia meadows (Posidonia oceanica). Field research was conducted in two occasions, in total duration of 16 days, in period of 7th till 25th of June and 15th till 23rd of September 2009.
